The Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Steering Committee was established in 2016 as a result of a recommendation from the Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail byway’s 2015 Corridor Management Plan.  The mission of the committee is to promote tourism and quality of life while advocating for the preservation of natural, historical, and cultural resources.  The committee is comprised of stakeholders located along the route that include Convention and Visitors Bureaus, Metro Park Systems, the National Park Service, Port Authorities, Community/Advocacy Groups, and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs). The committee collaborates on ways to market and promote the byway, oversee implementation of the recommendations from the byway’s Corridor Management Plan, and ensure the byway maintains its national scenic byway designation.  The committee is also focused on increasing and promoting access to Lake Erie while preserving its intrinsic resources.
